The most durable wire mesh materials are 316 stainless steel and high-quality polyethylene (PE), depending on the application.

Among metal wire mesh, 316 stainless steel mesh is the most durable. It contains molybdenum, making it far more resistant to chloride ion corrosion than 304 stainless steel, and is particularly suitable for high-salt-spray environments (such as coastal areas and chemical plants). With proper maintenance, its lifespan can reach 12-18 years or even longer.

Among non-metallic wire mesh, polyethylene (PE) shade netting with added UV-resistant additives is the most durable. It has good flexibility and aging resistance, and its lifespan under normal use can reach 2-5 years, superior to other plastic materials such as polypropylene (PP).

Galvanized wire mesh (such as hot-dip galvanized low-carbon steel wire mesh) also has strong corrosion resistance, and can be used outdoors for 10-15 years, suitable for humid environments such as building exterior wall insulation and underfloor heating systems.
