The structural characteristics of wire mesh mainly include its material composition, mesh pattern, connection process, and surface treatment. These characteristics collectively determine the strength, durability, and applicable scenarios of the wire mesh.

 

Material Composition: Wire mesh is typically made from low-carbon steel wire, galvanized wire, stainless steel wire, or cold-drawn steel wire. Some special-purpose wire mesh may use aluminum plate or galvanized plate. Different materials give the wire mesh different corrosion resistance, strength, and adaptability to different environments.

 

Mesh Pattern: The wire mesh has a regular mesh structure. Common mesh shapes include square, rectangular, rhomboid, and hexagonal. The aperture can be customized according to requirements, ranging from 5×5cm to 10×20cm. Underfloor heating wire mesh often uses a 50mm×50mm small hole design to fix the pipes.

 

Connection Process: It is mainly formed by electric welding, butt welding, or stamping. Welded wire mesh is produced using automated mechanical welding, resulting in strong welds and a smooth mesh surface. Stamped steel wire mesh, on the other hand, has no welds, offering greater integrity and higher tensile strength.

 

Surface Treatment: To enhance corrosion resistance and service life, the mesh is often treated with hot-dip galvanizing, electro-galvanizing, dip coating, or powder coating. For example, a hot-dip galvanized layer effectively resists moisture and salt spray corrosion, extending its service life to over 50 years.

 

Structural Advantages: The mesh features uniform mesh size, strong welds, high strength, and strong integrity, effectively improving the crack resistance of concrete, withstanding shear and compressive forces, and playing a role in earthquake resistance and crack prevention in construction.
