Determining if high-transparency mesh is rusty mainly involves three methods: visual observation, tactile inspection, and environmental analysis. Combining rust characteristics with the usage scenario allows for quick identification.
Visual Observation:
Color Change: Brownish-red or yellowish-brown spots or streaks on the stainless steel mesh surface are typical signs of iron oxidation, especially concentrated at weld points and frame connections.
Surface Condition: Observe for blistering, peeling, thinning or breakage of the mesh wires. A decrease in gloss or darkening in localized areas may be an early sign of rust.
Changes in Transmittance: Severe rust can cause mesh blockage or deformation, resulting in a blurry or obstructed view from indoors.
Tactile Inspection:
Wear gloves and gently touch the mesh surface. If it feels rough, has a noticeable granular texture, or leaves powdery residue, it indicates the formation of iron oxide (rust).
Check screws, clips, and other metal fittings for looseness or jamming, as rust often starts to spread from these "dead spots."
Environmental and usage time aids in judgment:
High-permeability mesh used for more than 2 years in high-humidity, coastal, or industrially polluted environments will have a significantly increased risk of rusting without special anti-corrosion treatment.
If reddish-brown residue is found on the wiping cloth during cleaning, or rust stains or watermarks remain on the mesh surface after rain has dried, it also indicates that corrosion has begun.
